After the murder of George Floyd in 2020, Stella Jean posed a question to Italian fashion governing body Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI): do Black Lives Matter in Italian fashion? The Italian-Haitian designer and Giorgio Armani protégé boycotted Milan Fashion Week (MFW) that year and stated that she would not return until she was no longer the only Black Italian designer showing.
